Frequently asked questions
How often does my pet need a wellness exam?
Most healthy adult dogs and cats benefit from a wellness exam at least once a year. Puppies, kittens and senior pets usually need more frequent visits. During the exam, Dr. Jalan Wishik checks your pet from nose to tail and recommends vaccines, parasite prevention and screening tests based on age and lifestyle.
Which vaccines does my dog or cat need?
Core vaccines protect against serious, widespread diseases: rabies and distemper/parvovirus combinations for dogs, and rabies and FVRCP for cats. Florida law requires rabies vaccination for dogs and cats. Non-core vaccines, such as leptospirosis, Bordetella or feline leukemia, depend on lifestyle and exposure. We'll tailor a schedule for your pet.
Are vaccine reactions common?
Serious reactions are uncommon. Some pets are mildly tired or sore for a day after vaccines, which usually passes on its own. Call us right away at 727-847-9111 if you notice facial swelling, hives, vomiting or trouble breathing after a vaccine. Tell us about any previous reactions before your pet's next appointment.
How much do vaccines cost?
Costs depend on which vaccines your pet needs and whether an exam is due at the same time. Our wellness plans can spread routine care costs over the year. Call 727-847-9111 for current pricing for your dog or cat.
