Frequently asked questions
Why might my pet need X-rays?
X-rays help us look at bones, joints, the chest and the abdomen. We use them to check for fractures, arthritis, swallowed objects, bladder stones, heart and lung changes, and some tumors. They're often recommended for limping, coughing, vomiting or after an injury.
Is my pet sedated for X-rays?
Many pets can have X-rays while awake with gentle positioning. Pets who are painful, anxious or need precise positioning may need light sedation for their comfort and for clear images. We'll explain the plan and any sedation before we begin.
When will I get my pet's X-ray results?
Our veterinarian reviews all X-rays on site and explains what we see. If we recommend a specialist radiologist's opinion, results usually take 24 to 48 hours for routine, non-urgent cases, or under 2 hours for STAT (urgent) reviews.
