What counts as a pet emergency?
Call right away for trouble breathing, collapse, seizures, uncontrolled bleeding, suspected poisoning, a swollen or hard belly, repeated vomiting, inability to urinate, major trauma or severe pain. When in doubt, call 727-847-9111; our team can help you decide how quickly your pet needs to be seen.
Can I walk in for urgent care?
During business hours, call before you come so we can prepare. We try to see emergencies the same day. If we're fully occupied with other emergencies, we'll refer you to the closest emergency hospital so your pet gets care quickly. We're open Monday–Thursday 8:30–5 and Friday 8:30–1.
What if my pet has an emergency after hours or on the weekend?
Gulfview is closed evenings after 5 PM (1 PM on Fridays) and on weekends. For after-hours emergencies, go directly to the nearest 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital. Bring any medications, packaging of anything your pet may have eaten, and your pet's records if available.
My pet ate something toxic. What should I do?
Don't wait for symptoms. Call us during business hours at 727-847-9111, or call an animal poison control line such as the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (a fee may apply). Don't induce vomiting unless a veterinarian tells you to. Bring the product packaging so we know exactly what was eaten.
